    • What kind of networks are available with OneSimCard M2M / IoT?

Currently we offer 2G, 3G & 4G (full LTE, CAT M/M1, & NB-IoT ) networks in most countries we cover.  Speeds and network type are dependent on the networks on which we operate. For full details, please fill out a Custom Quote Request form and have a discussion with our IoT experts.
2. Ordering
    • Where can I purchase the M2M/IoT SIM card?

M2M / IoT  SIM cards are offered to corporate accounts with a minimum of 5 SIM cards on the account.

The Starter Kit could be purchased immediately on-line.

Additional SIM cards can be ordered from the OSCAR SIM management platform.

If you would like to place an order bypassing the Starter Kit, you can do this here, or you can have a discussion with one of our IoT experts by filling out the Custom Quote Request form.

3. Terminology
      What are M2M and IoT?

Machine to machine (M2M) refers to direct communication between devices using wired and wireless communication channels. In different industries such communication may be referred to by different abbreviations (SmartGrid, Smart Buildings, Smart Cars and alike, V2V, V2I and V2x - "vehicle to vehicle", "vehicle to infrastructure" and "vehicle to anything").

IoT is an acronym for Internet of Things. Wikipedia defines IoT as the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data.

Many consider M2M to be at the core of IoT. In this regard IoT is simply a broader concept. IoT lets devices speak with one another through a much larger network. M2M is what provides the Internet of Things with the connectivity which enables capabilities that would not be possible without it.

4. General Service
    • What services are provided on IoT SIM Card?

OneSimCard IoT SIM Card offers Cellular Mobile Data and SMS Service. Included with the service, you will have free access to OSCAR – our powerful, yet easy to use, cloud based SIM management platform where you will have sophisticated management tools for your entire deployment.
The main features of the OSCAR Platform are:
      • Activate/deactivate/block (suspend) SIM Cards
      • Set SIM card Data Connection options and limits
      • Suspend/Un-Suspend any SIM card
      • Assign administrators to specific groups of SIM cards
      • Assign various user rights to accounts administrators
      • Assign “nicknames” to SIM cards for easier management
      • Send/Receive SMS directly from portal or API at reduced cost
      • Basic Troubleshooting, SIM network reconnect, and Active Session information
      • Lock SIMs to a particular IMEI
      • Set up “Activation Templates” for frequently used settings
      • Assign/Unassign Static IP Addresses to SIM cards
      • Set future deactivation/suspend dates for SIM Cards
      • Full API access to SIM Management functions
      • Set alarms/notifications if SIM card(s) meet certain criteria
      • Voice service is available, and requires a particular type of IoT SIM card. If you require Voice, please mention this when you fill out the Custom Quote Request form
      • Private APN, VPN and Static IPs for additional security measures
      • IP Filtering - Whitelist IP addresses from which and to which data is transferred (optional services required)

5. General Service
    • What network coverage is offered on IoT SIM Card?

OneSimCard M2M SIM works on major networks of the countries where it is being used. For example, in USA the service is offered on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon Networks. In Canada the service is offered on Rogers, Telus or Bell. The switching between networks is automatic and not steered. The networks with the strongest signal will be selected to provide the best quality of service.

You can view networks offered in each country on the Coverage page.
6. General Service
    • What is the expiration policy for OneSimCard IoT SIM cards?

For PAYG accounts, the OneSimCard IoT SIM card will expire 60 days after the date when there is no balance on the SIM (except on newer accounts where the SIM cards are not individually funded). Both PAYG and Pooled accounts’ IoT SIM cards may expire if there is no usage in 18 consecutive months. See full Terms and Conditions.
7. Rates and Cost
    • Are there any data plans available for IoT SIM cards?

Yes! Both Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) and Pooled plans offer data discount plans and in most countries our IoT SIM cards provide billing of data in 1 kb increments, and the effective per MB cost start as low as $0.005 (1/2 of a cent) per MB. Learn more about both PAYG and Pooled data plans

These plans, especially Pooled data plans, are customized to each client’s particular needs and our IoT experts will be glad to provide a proposal based on your unique needs. Please fill out the Custom Quote Request form and we will be in touch within 1 business day.
8. Terminology
      What is an eSIM?

There are also SIM cards packages in ceramic miniature packaging that can be soldered directly to the PCB – Printed Circuit Board of the device. There is more than one type of eSIM. Most common is MFF2 type with 8 pins. In addition, an eSIM can be embedded in other integrated circuits devices which are also soldered directly to the PCB. The eSIM card is not removable, but could be reprogrammed with another network profile if required to change the network provider.

Learn more about IoT eSIMs from OneSimCard, or fill out a Custom Quote Request form to speak with one of our IoT experts.

9. Terminology
    • What is a Private APN?

Private APN allows you to limit access on your devices to a narrow network. If the device does not have an APN pre-programmed, it will not be able to access the internet. The number of SIM cards with private APN can be as few as one or as many as 1 million. Learn more about Private APNs.

10. Terminology
What is a Private IP address?

An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. An IP address serves two principal functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing.

Private IP addresses are only addressable from within devices the same IP range. This adds a layer of security to your IoT SIM cards because only devices on the same Private Network can access the SIM(s). This addressing can be accomplished through Peer-to-Peer communication or through a VPN Connection. If you would like to learn more about Private Ips, please fill out our Custom Quote Request form & one of our experts will be back to you within 1 business day.
